Register of Merit

The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada is pleased to announce the introduction of a Register of Merit program. The use of ROM as a suffix for Sires and Dams will be awarded to those SCWT meeting the following criteria as approved by the Board of the SCWTAC.
Register of Merit Program

The SCWTAC Register of Merit recognizes Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers who have contributed to the advancement of the breed in Canada, through their demonstrated ability to conform to the breed standard and by producing quality offspring.

Eligibility
1. The SCWT must be bred by or owned/co-owned by a member of the SCWTAC. If the dog is not currently owned by a SCWTAC member it must have been during the time of breeding/whelping.
2. Offspring must be Canadian or American bred (in the case of a member residing in the US) and titles may be Canadian or American champions of record.
3. ROM Sire – a dog must have produced a minimum of 8 conformation champions.
4. ROM Dam – a bitch must have produced a minimum of 5 conformation champions.
5. All titles must be confirmed by providing the Championship certificates and Registration forms confirming parentage of the progeny, or written verification from the Canadian Kennel Club, along with the application form to the secretary of the SCWTAC.
The listing of the new ROM recipients will be confirmed each year at the SCWTAC AGM and posted on the club website at www.scwtac.com

Register of Merit 2023

This year the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Assoc of Canada is extremely honored to add AM GCHS CAN GCH Keepsake Timtara Im A Rock Star (Pink) to the Register of Merit.  She is the dam of 9 champion offspring with 8 of these titled in both Canada and the US.  Her list of accomplishments is extensive both in the show ring and as a producer.  This year at age 9 she still looks and showed like a youngster winning Best of Opposite at the US National (Montgomery County Kennel Club).  Throughout her show career she has consistently been among the top Wheatens winning on both sides of the border.  It is my distinct pleasure to detail her accomplishments and those of her progeny here.

2022 New Designates

It is my pleasure to announce this year’s additions to the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada’s Register of Merit program. This designation allows the Breeder/Owner to use the suffix ROM when advertising or detailing the awards and accomplishments of their SCWT. This year we have 4 new bitches that have attained this milestone. I would like to congratulation not only the breeders of these Wheatens but also the owners and co-owners who undertook the journey with them. Owners who agreed to keep a show potential puppy groomed and in coat to be shown, who took them to handling classes, brought them to shows, or who undertook to show their dog themselves as a novice handler. Many of our breeders today, are breeders because someone convinced us that having a show dog would be fun! It does take a village! For a Wheaten to produce such quality offspring is a testament to the hard work and willingness of the breeders and owners to show, health test and continue to produce quality happy dogs. The work to achieve just one title is incredible and so many of these offspring are multi-titled not just in conformation but also in performance. Here are this year’s Register of Merit inductees:
